Abstract
Traffic congestion in Ho Chi Minh City has become more serious, which not only jeopardizes people travelling on the road but also raises the level of air pollution caused by emissions of means of transportation. Encouraging people to move from personal vehicle to public transport is one of the best solutions to this problem and buses are the only public transport in Ho Chi Minh City.
In order to increase the number of bus users, passengers‘ satisfaction with the public bus service must be thoroughly investigated so as to identify the major factors affecting this issue. This study has proven that the following factors have positive effect on passengers‘ satisfaction, including Bus Quality, Customer Service, Convenience, Bus System Operation, On-board Environment, Waiting Conditions and Costs. Finding out these factors will help the government and public bus operators to have a holistic view of the current state of the public bus, thereby providing corrective and development policies to increase the number of bus users.
