dc.description.abstract | The commissioning company of this thesis is Petec Trading and Investment
Corporation. Petec is one of the four biggest petrol and fuel importer of Vietnam and has
30 year experiences operating in petroleum market. Recent years, the company is meeting difficulties in accounts receivable management. The receivable management is always considered as an important process in financial management. If the receivables are not managed closely, the firm will suffer a lot of consequences from the over-increasing receivables, such as the illiquidity, insolvency, and lower profitability. It is important for
any firms to acknowledge the role of accounts receivable management.
So, this thesis will focus on the analysis of Petec‟s credit control policy, which
is the main controlling tool of Petec‟s accounts receivable management. The thesis aims
to analyze the components comprising Petec‟s current credit control policy and point out the problems in Petec‟s credit policy, and then there will be the recommendations for solving those problems. The case-study qualitative research method is chosen for conducting the deep investigation of Petec‟s issue in receivables management. The
primary data for this thesis will collected through in-depth interviews with a purposive sampling, and the direct observation will be also applied. Through the information collected from interviews, observations and document analysis, the issues including the causes and consequences will be expressed clearly in this thesis.
Through the analysis of evidences proving that Petec is actually having problems
in accounts receivable management, it points out that the downward trend in Petec‟s
liquidity since 2010, in accordance with the significant decrease in average collection
days. And with the deep analysis of Petec‟s credit control policy, those consequences are arisen from its liberal credit policy without a close supervision. The discussion of Petec‟s credit policy will provide the explanations and appropriate reasons causing Petec‟s over- liberal credit policy. And the recommendations will help Petec to control its liberal policy. | en_US |
