The effects of FDI on regional development in Vietnam
Abstract
This study examines the effect of the density of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to
demographic, social, economic, and business environment development in Vietnam. The
research uses pooled data of 63 provinces, as well as region and whole country’s figure.
Data is drawn in the period of 8 years from 2005-2012 or at best available. The large
amount of detail data serve the purpose to conclude a general behavior of effect that FDI
tend to have to assist on regional growth in Vietnam. The final result gives positive value
for all relationships regarding FDI impact, showing the importance of FDI in general
development in Vietnam. Research recommends more attention of policy makers to value
FDI impact on society more correctly.
