| dc.description.abstract | Along with the increase of smoking rate, the related disease has been appearing in a significant number with dreadful harms. Smoking always ranks in top five causes of death. Unlike many other diseases on the causes of death list, smoking related ones are considered to be avoidable. Thus, it is vital to investigate in how the intention to quit is contributed directly and indirectly under individual perspectives. The revised model illustrates how intention to quit is examined in term of Health belief, Life satisfaction, Well-being oriented, Health perception, Smoking outcome expectancies, and Motivation to smoke.
The study is conducted in Da Nang city with the sample of 411 attendants. The results show a strong positive relation between Health perception and Intention to quit. In addition, the fair correlations between Health perception and Health belief, Life satisfaction, Well-being oriented activities also contribute indirectly to the behavioral forming of quitting smoking. The firm negative correlation of Health perception towards Smoking outcome expectancies and Motivation to smoke also partly explain the way people perceive smoking. This study will provide helpful insights, which explain the intention behavior, so that recommendations and suggestions can be produced on a more reliable theoretical and practical base. | en_US |
