dc.description.abstractThe research studies stock ownership in Vietnamese listed firms in Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange by foreign investors from 2010 to 2013. The firm specific characteristics studied are firm size, turnover rate, dividend yield, beta, leverage ratio, current ratio, book-to-market ratio, P/E, ROE, audit quality, audit opinion and exporting firms. The analysis shows that foreign investors prefer large firms with high systematic risk, low book-to-market ratio, turnover rate and dividend yield. Besides, they also show a preference toward exporting firms and firms have high audit quality. In term of industry, foreign investments are allocated more in Pharmaceuticals, Real estate, Constructions, Manufacture, Electric equipment and technological devices, Mining and Agriculture. In term of investing strategy, in the period 2010-2013, they applied buy-and-hold strategy.en_US
