Employee turnover is a highly topical subject and an important dilemma that many organizations may face in the future, if not facing it already. In my opinion, increasing employee satisfaction can lead to reducing employee turnover, and then help to maintain them, also. My research is based on Abbott Vietnam as the case study, and the following key questions are intended to be answered: “What are the work-related factors causing employee turnover in Abbott Vietnam?” and “How should Abbott Vietnam retain their employees?” The background of this thesis presents a few studies about the employee turnover and the factors contributing to job satisfaction/dissatisfaction. Based the literature review, my conceptual model is formed and used as a framework throughout the findings. The research method is a qualitative, as well as a theoretical study where main findings and theories have been compared. Eight qualitative interviews are conducted with Human Resource staffs, supervisors, and employees in order to get the full view at the phenomenon employee turnover. Finally, some factors and issues which can cause employee turnover if Abbott Vietnam fails to meet them are found. For instance, the factor Nature of work includes some issues such as job challenges, job opportunities, workload, working conditions. Similarly, pay and benefits consist of competitiveness and internal equity. Then, relationship with supervisors and co-workers embrace communication and understanding; respect, recognition and understanding, support and coaching, feedback.en_US
