A case study of organizational culture in Saigon shipyard company
Abstract
Nowadays, most of companies always look for good persons, enlarge human resource, and improve technology in the process of developing company. They forgot that not only these persons and technology can make company develop but also it depended on the consistent connection between them. This can be expressed clearly through “Organizational Culture”. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to give more knowledge and understanding about organizational culture – a competitive advantage to make distinguish among many companies. This thesis is applied in Saigon Shipyard Company,
a foreign invested company from Singapore. The reason why researcher chooses this company is that I already had probation period here, I can understand some its strength and weakness that any other companies can meet.
In order to complete this thesis, the researcher uses a combined model of Schein and Denison. It helps to describe and identify which dimension of organizational culture that SSY is following. Based on the observation, interview and questionnaire, the researcher can give conclusion and have some recommendations for company’s improvement.
Although this thesis has some limitations, it can be a useful reference for any Vietnamese enterprises and also foreign company that want to improve their organizational culture to
compete in the future market.
