Investigate factors influencing the growth of jewellery e-commerce - The case of USA, India, UK and Vietnam
Abstract
Jewellery e-commerce has been developing dramatically, attracting big jewellery companies to develop this online channel with the purpose of increasing the revenue. Jewellry shipping regulation is perceived to be an obstacle impeding the growth of jewellry e-commerce in Vietnam. This study aimed to point out how the jewellery shipping regulation has influenced the growth of jewellery e-commerce in Vietnam and what roles of insurance company in parcel post are.
This is a qualitative research which the case studies of countries such as USA, India and UK whose jewellry e-commerce has developed remarkably for years is selected for the study. The method used to collect data were document analysis which is annual reports of the jewellery market, statistical data of the e-commerce jewellry industry and jewellery shipping and distance selling regulations of these three asforementioned countries. Data analysis was conducted inductively through the search and discussion of the case study to point out eligibility of shipping jewellery via parcel post has positive effects on the development of jewellery e-commerce in developed countries.
The limitation of this research is the lack of data regarding the parcel volumn of India and UK before 2000 and the jewellery industry of US and UK at the end of 20th centurty to demonstrate the development of e-commerce has positive impacts on the parcel post industry. This research is worthy for the further investitation and will play a significant
role in the development of jewellery e-commerce, the amendment of postal regulation in Vietnam.
