The Impact Of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) On Employees' Engagement In Hospitality Industry
Abstract
One of the most significant topics that has recently captured the concentration
of our whole society in every industry is corporate social responsibility (CSR). The goal
of the current study is to analyze the strategies through which corporate social
responsibility affects the commitment of workers to their companies. This study further
emphasizes the role of work social support and workplace ostracism as mediators
between business performance in CSR and employees’ desire to remain engaged. CSR
practices of the companies and staff devotion to goals. In order to gather information
for this paper, a questionnaire survey was distributed to respondents who have a job in
Ho Chi Minh City, especially related to hospitality industry. Following that, 196 valid
questionnaires were gathered and used to test the hypothesis using the PLS - SEM
technique by SMART PLS 4 tool. The findings demonstrated that employee
engagement is both directly and significantly influenced by CSR. The results also
proved that the involvement of workers currently working in hotel/restaurant is
positively and significantly impacted by the mediating variable - work social support.
Meanwhile, CSR has no indirect effect to employee commitment through workplace
ostracism. The author wants to contribute in developing and giving some
recommendations for the managerial level of the firm, should make every efforts to
better understand and promote their employees’ engagement, which will ultimately lead
to favorable results for the organization as a whole.
