dc.description.abstractProbiotics have been used extensively in aquaculture worldwide for productivity enhancement. The use of comercial probiotics in many cases is a financial burden. Low-cost method of using probiotics should therefore be developed. This research examined the use of a commercial probiotic product as inoculate for mass cultivation for the improvement of pond water quality. 16S rRNA gene sequencing method and BLAST SEARCH revealed that this commercial product includes Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, Bacillus pumillus and Bacillus cereus. The first experiment was designed to compare its ability to treat pond water of these probiotics by two method; direct application and biomass culture for 48hrs. This experiment was conducted twice with 3- and 7- day duration, respectively. During these testing periods, temperature (oC), pH, ammonia, nitrite-nitrogen (NO2--N), nitrate-nitrogen (NO3--N), suspended solids (SS), and Votiled suspended solids (VSS) were monitored. In the second experiment pineapple, ammonium sulfate, bran and corn meal were separatedly added to molasses samples to determine the improvement of culture protocol for efficiently increasing biomass. The result pointed out the best method used corn meal Then, we can propose a suitable method to reduce financial investment while increasing efficiency for aquaculture development. This project will provide much needed information on conditions to utilize Bacillus sp in aquaculture and will investigate how effective these Bacillus strains can be in water treatment and economics.
