dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to identify target compounds and their biological activities including anti-oxidant, anti-diabetic and anti-cancer activities of extracts from Desmodium heterophyllum. Two pure compounds which are ß-sitosterol and Dpinitol were isolated and purified from methanol extract. Anti-oxidant activity was determined by 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay and results showed no significant value in extracts and compounds except DH-02 with IC50 value at 24.17 µg/ml. To evaluate anti-diabetic activity, in vitro enzyme alpha-glucosidase inhibition assay was applied. TE, EE, F-02, ß-sitosterol and D-pinitol expressed potential with IC50 as 336.98; 72.55; 136.32; 144.75 and 25.18 µg/ml, respectively. The anticancer activity was evaluated by RSB assay with four cancer cell line Hep G2, HeLa, NCI H460 and MCF-7 but no significant result was found from this assay.
