Wireless sensor network design for automatic water reading system
Abstract
Water meter reading today is considered as tedious and expensive since many meter readers are required to go the consumer's house and take reading manually to issue the bill. It increases the cost of billing as well as error. Therefore, an automatic water meter reading system based on wireless sensor network is proposed to solve these problems. This system includes collecting data nodes, base station nodes, and a remote center. Wireless Sensor Network designed for automatic water meter reading system is in Viet Nam because it decreases the cost of billing as well as error by reducing human intervention.
This thesis work focuses on studying and understanding topology, network configuration, protocol and hardware is used to design for automatic water meter reading system. Based on Texas Instrument CC1110 development kit and GPRS module, data gathering and transmitting to remote server is investigated. Furthermore, the NS2 simulation tool is also applied to evaluation the packet delivery ration inside network.
