dc.description.abstract | Urbanization is an inevitable process of any country in the world, including Vietnam. However, spontaneous urbanization, lack of scientific planning and will cause and leave many negative consequences in long term, obstruct the development of the country. Therefore, urbanization strategy of Vietnam should aim to keep the natural, human and social sustainability.
Drainage and sewage treatment, environmental protection are important issues in the urban planning, construction and management.. For new urban areas, residential areas, quality of technical infrastructure, including stormwater and wastewater, contributes to decide the appeal for customers, as well as the sustainable development of urban areas for a long time.
In addition, climate change also increasingly becomes huge challenges for urban planning and construction of technical infrastructure, particularly in urban areas which were often affected by high tides. By climate change scenarios updated in 2015- Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment, in 2050,Vung Tau sea water level is predicted to increase by 44 cm, then Phu An station would increase by 30 cm and in 2100, when water level in Vung Tau station rises 65-100 cm, Phu An tram will reach a peak of 2.2 m. Urban flooding problem not only in urban areas of Vietnam in general and HCM City in particular, but also this is the "problem" of many urban areas in the world, especially urban areas of developing countries where is occuring urbanization process but lack of management and planning solutions and adaptive infrastructure projects. Urban flooding has caused significant impacts to people's daily life: impact on economic development, environmental pollution and so on.
Therefore, the construction of a modern and sustainable urban area in where often got flooded in the past in Ho Chi Minh City as the Thu Thiem new urban area needs investments in infrastructure accurately and effectively. For these reasons, this study is implemented to propose sustainable drainage approaches for Thu Thiem new urban area. | en_US |
