Improve the dissolution rate and oral absorption for curcumin, self – nano/microemulsifying was studied and developed completed with the combination with oil – surfactant – co – surfactant. SMEDDS is the isotropic mixture which form oil – in – water nanoemulsion containing: oil, surfactant, co – surfactant into aqueous phase under agitation .The constituent include coconut oil (oil), tween 80 (co – surfactant), and poloxamer 407 (surfactant) based on the ternary phase diagram to identify the area of nanoemulsification and apply to solid – SMEDDS by using powder – tablet and freeze - drying. Systems was evaluated by visual characteristics, turbidity, particle size test and dissolution test. Compared with the dissolution rate of pure drug, curcumin SMEDDS has much higher and can applied for powder - tablet or using freeze – drying to make sticky tablet in intestine. The results of PXRD was showed the drug was constituted in form SMEDDS. Finally, the potential of this methods help us to achieve the target which improve dissolution and oral bioavailability of curcumin and on the formation of curcumin solid - SMEDDS.
