Implement ECG data transmission pathway combined of bluetooth low energy and TCP/IP protocol
Abstract
Health telematics, which helps to improve patient lives with high telecommunication
technology and precise medical measurement, is a potential field in Vietnam healthcare
system. In this project, a long-term ambulatory electrocardiogram (ECG) telemedicine
system is proposed. The ECG signals are transmitted from a wireless ECG module to
Android smartphone via Bluetooth Smart and from smartphone to Internet server via
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) socket or Internet web-based
protocol. Therefore, at first, an Android program is built in order to establish Bluetooth
connection. Graphical function is also implemented for viewing purpose. After being
received, ECG records are sent to Internet server by two methods. A SQL server is
developed using PHP and JavaScript in order to process and store data. Finally, to
retrieve data, client software is programmed using Microsoft Visual Studio, Android
Studio and PHP designer. Experimental results show that the proposed systems provide
high signal quality and stable real-time transmission. Some products in this work have
joined the healthcare market.
