The functionality of computer networks was until recently defined by the network devices that they contained, which had the specifications set by their vendors. The requirements of such networks with regards to flexibility and configuration have greatly increased. The increase of new application means that computer networks have emerged as one of the new infrastructures. Software-Defined Network allows data to be transported through heterogeneous networks from a sender to a receiver, with the process of packet forwarding being unimportant to the end user. NETCONF is Network Configuration Protocol that is a standard protocol used by major network device providers in their devices. NETCONF allows network managers to be able to install, modify, manage or delete configurations on network devices by using simple XML based data encoding and over a remote procedure call (RPC).
