A Web 3D Application For Online Simulation
Abstract
Virtual Reality (VR) has always been a promising field in the general technology industry ever since its official recognition in 1950s. With numerous practical benefits in several key fields such as education and entertainment, Virtual Reality techniques have attracted constant attention from specialists and experts around the world in respective areas. Additionally, the burgeoning application of this technology in recent years, especially for daily use, has led to the immense increase in its popularity among the public.
Following the current trend, this thesis attempts to explore the application of Virtual Reality technology in tourism and advertising industries. To be specific, the primary work includes a research into various related techniques for VR software development as well as a sample web-based system created using the studied methodologies. The intended final product will be a Virtual Reality application modelling the International University (of Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City) main buildings which are accessible through the Internet without strict requirement for any additional hardware gadgets (e.g. head-mounted display or controllers). This software can then be utilized for various advertising purposes, for instance, broadcasting the school image to a wide range of people while, at the same time, providing a deep insight into the university structure without the need to go directly to the destination.
