Design a bridge using incrementally prestressed conctrete girder with continuous deck
Abstract
This graduation thesis marks the final milestone in my study at Civil Engineering
Department, International University – Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh
(VNU – HCM) and also a vital step in the preparation of my future careers. Within
the scope of my graduation thesis, I try to represent Structural design and
Construction flow of the project “Design a bridge using incrementally prestressed
concrete girder with continuous desk”.
The superstructure consists of two simple spans made continuous for live loads.
The design calculation and commentary are based on the implementation of the
AASHTO- LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. This document is offered in
Standard International (SI) Units.
This thesis includes detailed flowcharts outlining the design steps for components
of the bridge. The flowcharts are cross-referenced to the relevant specification articles
to allow easy navigation of the specifications. Detailed design computations for the
following components are included: concrete deck, prestressed concrete I-girders and
pier.
In addition to explaining the design steps of the design calculation, the
comprehensive commentary goes beyond the specifics of the calculation to offer
guidance on different situations that may be encountered in other bridges.
