dc.description.abstract | In this era, "environment and sustainable development" are issues that many countries and international organizations are concerned about. In some aspects to ensure that the environment is not degraded and develops sustainably, attention should be paid to solve the problem of “drainage, sewage treatment and environmental sanitation measure" appropriately.
"Urban drainage" is an urgent issue for everyone, every country in the world. The issue of water pollution has caused human beings to suffer from diseases that supposed to be remedied or not affected if they were properly treated.
Sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) are an increasingly important part of our green infrastructure. SUDS minimize surface water run-off and flood risks in an environmentally friendly way by mimicking natural water systems such as ponds, wetlands, swales and basins. SUDS can involve various ‘green’ engineering options such as infiltration trenches and filter drains, in order to slow water flow rate to reduce flood risk, whilst managing pollutants on site. SUDS offer neighborhoods multiple benefits, including attractive planting features, and increased biodiversity whilst helping to ensure adaptation to climate change.
SUDS are also applicable to brownfield sites and techniques can be adapted to deal with a lack of space, poor soil infiltration, soil contamination and enhance and maintain biodiversity and wildlife.
Therefore, the construction of a modern and sustainable urban area in where often got flooded in the past in Ho Chi Minh City as Tan Hoa Lo Gom catchment needs investments in infrastructure accurately and effectively. For these reasons, this study is implemented to propose a sustainable drainage approaches for Tan Hoa Lo Gom catchment. | en_US |
