Web application for visualization of dicom images
Abstract
There is no doubt that the growth of medical measuring devices has witnessed signi cant
increase in recent years. Thanks to the rapid development of technology, most hospitals
and medical industries are entirely equipped with these advanced machines nowadays.
In addition, a great impact from the immense advancements in the eld of computer
graphics have made geometric modeling become a fascinating topic for researchers all on
international scale. A variety of applications have been constructed with the purposes of
assisting medical sta s in visualizing images captured from medical instruments, such as
X-ray Computerized Tomography (X-ray CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), etc.
These applications o er medical sta s a superior approach in analysis and diagnose to-
wards patients. Nevertheless, these desktop applications have some visible disadvantages
since they requires special installations, which could prevent them from integrating these
software into their settings.
In this thesis, a research is conducted with goal of seeking an optimum solution to over-
come all previous drawbacks. A web-based application is developed by combining e -
ciently a range of graphical JavaScript frameworks in order to transform a set of DICOM
slices into 3D object. As a result, medical sta s are provided with a high-performance
application including a range of popular rendering algorithms.
