Ontology based respiratory disease database management
Abstract
The Industry 4.0 - the new era of digitization has begun in the world in general and in
Viet Nam in particular. As a result, the volume of data exploded quickly. Therefore, many
companies and business organizations have chosen ontology as the fundamental platform to
cope with the constant fluctuations of information and data. Ontology is like a database of a
particular field, it describes everything in that field including definitions of terms, the properties
of objects, and the relationship between them. It will allow the computer to "understand" the
human-like semantics, to share information across different systems.
Disease Database is now very diverse and increasing every day. And Vietnamese
medicine databases are not consistent and overlapped, that leads to difficulties of update and
lookup.
This thesis aims to develop an ontology-based respiratory disease database management
system which would facilitate updating respiratory disease data from multi-sources. The system
will help users, especially those working in the field of medicine, to find out the disease, cause
of the disease as well as update the information of new diseases quickly and accurately.
