dc.description.abstract | Question Answering and Chatbot is obtaining many interests of many Vietnamese research communities, from big companies and corporations such as Viettel, FPT, ... constructing a chatbot platform for many small customers without coding knowledge to Researchers trying to apply a variety of models and techniques to increase the accuracy of some specific Question Answering problem. Some are just serving as an interesting and funny application to play with like SimSimi. Chatbots are generally created for customer service, using the available data to analyze and understand users' messages and return the related answers regarding the user’s intention.
Nowadays, more and more interactions and information are made online which carries an enormous amount of data. In the field of education, universities have many methods for providing current students and potential students with their services. The channels such as website, Facebook pages, hotlines provide many useful pieces of information on school life, events, school rules for students to use. However, at some period of the year, the school is overloaded with student’s questions which might sometime lead to an unresponsive and delayed answer to students. Besides, the university's website containing an excessive amount of information that might confuse students. The development of chatbot is essential to provide a fast method for students to retrieve the information.
There have been some scholarly works on chatbot building and question answering system. However, there hardly any public question and answering data about universities, even harder to found one with Vietnamese partly because of its boundary as a closed-domain. Because of that, not many universities utilize chatbot for customer service purposes. Therefore, the data can only be gathered and labeled by the researcher. Especially with the International University case, the data is available on the website and on many Facebook page

which is recently quite active with a large number of questions from students. However, the data is crude and needs refining to be put into use.
It is expected that when applying the system, student’s questions will be quickly answered and the communication between the students and the schools could be faster and more efficient. Moreover, the system should be able to improve itself over time as there is more data from students.
With the main goal of creating a customer support system using Chatbot for the International University, this thesis first gathering and refined the data then using the cleaned data on building a chatbot for the system.
