The smart attendance management system using RFID technology and facial recognition
Abstract
In the academic school and workplace, attendance checking is one of the crucial tasks, especially the crowded area. Checking attendance helps us manage the existing number of appearing people in the specific room, keep track their work and position. This task done by manually takes a lot of effort and time.
Internet of Things (IoT) has been reforming energetically technology field in recent years. Thanks to the internet and its applications, data can be collected and shared more efficiently and securely. Embedded devices are becoming faster, cheaper, and can integrate interesting technologies like image processing and artificial intelligence. Based on the advantages of this state-of-the-art technology, the idea of an automated, accurate and useful attendance system was come up.
This thesis develops a checking attendance system using Radio Frequency Identification and Deep Learning for facial recognition. At the room entrance, a device built with screen and camera interacts with the people, it reads their RFID card, captures and recognizes the face and send the information to the centralized server. All activity data is collected and reported on a web application, all users will use this web application to check as well as update personal information.
