Study On Feasibility Of Solution For Drainage System In District 8, Ho Chi Minh City
Abstract
Due to floods and consequences of climate change, sustainable drainage issues
have been researched in the world. In Vietnam, this problem has been going, but
not fully studied.
In recent years, climate change has been strongly influencing Vietnam. The
temperature and the amount of rain has increasingly affected large cities. Ho Chi
Minh City and many other cities, the flooding problem becomes more difficult.
Despite a great deal of improvement projects and the traditional solution of
drainage for controlling floods; however, the issue has not been eliminated. This
not only affects the beauty of the urban area and activities of citizens but also
leads to a series of negative consequences such as epidemics and economic
losses. Some environmentally friendly solutions have been approached, such as
the application of ecological engineering (KTST) to make green roofs for
increasing the permeability area and the permeable surface.
Therefore, this study is conducted with the aim of approaching and applying
advanced solutions in the field of sustainable and effective drainage in the world
in order to find suitable solutions. Sustainable drainage includes solutions to
reduce flooding in urban areas in Vietnam in general and District 8 - Ho Chi
Minh City in particular.
