Mission playload design for coastal water quality observation
Abstract
Water quality is an issue of concern in every country, especially in lowlands, estuaries,
and coastal areas. Vietnam is a country that has a long seacoast, tangled river system.
The economy of Vietnam is dependent on agriculture and marine products to develop,
which is affected not only by human activities but also by environmental conditions.
Therefore, developing a system that has the ability to study aspects of water sources in a
wide range is important. This report studies the design and analysis process of a space
mission and investigates sea surface color and salinity, then proposes a mission payload
design for monitoring complex water quality at the high-end medium resolution. The
result shows the requirement of optical payload for coastal water quality observation
missions in low Earth, Sun-synchronous orbit - imaging with a spatial resolution of 10m/
pixel in 7 spectral bands, quantized to 12-bit depth, and passing the targets at least once
a week.
