| dc.description.abstract | Teaching planning including subjects’ arrangement and set teaching schedule is an
important task in academic management for schools/departments as well as academic affairs
office of higher education institution. In the IU, departments’ secretaries currently have to
make plan for new courses by hand, i.e., they have to input every piece of information, one by
one to make a complete courses plan or request for adding new courses’ groups or request for
canceling courses’ groups. This can lead to mistyping data while they are looking up from a
database and input them in the request. In addition, after requests made by secretaries
approved and signed by departments’ headers, UAAO’s staff will have to process a large
amount of information coming from request of all departments before exporting them as
standard format excel files to import to edusoftweb. This system aims to make the work of
secretaries and UAAO’s staff works easier so that they can mange better their request as well
as minimize some unnecessary error that might cost time to fix and process.
To understand the requirement for this system, I worked with Ms. Tam who is a staff
of UAAO so that I can learn what she has to do with every request before exporting them to a
new format to import to edusoftweb. Besides, I also received some courses planning files
from Dr. Tu to list out everything needed to prepare for the system. This system will help
secretary as well as UAAO’s staffs to manage master data better and they can use them to
make courses plans or other requests faster and more precsise.
It is clear that the importance of this system will be how it can help secretaries with
their job, reduce their work, they will use the data given by the system which has been
prepared by admin. So, I make function for this system to control master data that will be used
to make plan or make other requests. I also make export tools which is export plan or requests
to PDF files or Excel files for many purposes of users. The most important role of this system,
I believe, is that it helps secretaries have a same data to make request, and the requests from
all departments will have the same format so that admin can manage and re-check them
easily. This system will help save lots of time of working for secretaries as well as staffs from
