A Research For PWA And Its Application In E-Commerce Sites
Abstract
In recent years, the development of web app has become crucial part in all fields and
Progressive web applications (PWAs) seem to be the next huge thing not only in the mobile
web but also in cross-platform web development. The main idea of PWAs is a website built
using web technologies but also acts and feels like a mobile app.
PWA is given the title “the most suitable solution for the mobile-first era” not only
because they fast, engaging, and reliable but also for many benefits that they deliver to users,
businesses, and developers. Let take the users ‘s benefit for instance, one of the biggest concerns
of moblie users is saving valuable storage especially on low-end device. During use, gradually
the storage capacity will be full, and the users must sacrifice their precious photos or messages
if they want to download an app. Users no longer have to make such difficult decisions with
PWAs because they are substantially lighter compared native apps. In terms of business,
deploying PWA eliminates the requirement for third-party distributors such as Google and
Apple, lowering the cost of user acquisition. PWA also allows marketers a better chance to
entice customers to install their application locally rather than through the app store because of
its lower size and quicker installation procedure. Lastly, PWAs are built on standard web
technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, making them appear to be easier to construct
than native apps. A PWA may be simply constructed from the ground up by an internal team
of front-end developers in certain less complex projects. It may be more difficult in the case of
more intricate sites, store, or ecommerce market. Developers may transform a site into a
Progressive Web App without interfering with the engine thanks to the latest PWA frameworks,
which separate the platform's front-end from its back-end.[1]
Therefore, the main duty of this thesis is to explore PWAs features, which could enable
me to developing a prototype Food Ordering PWA. This website features basic function of a
Food Ordering App implement with some PWA’s characteristics to make the app work offline,
load fast, add on your home screen and receive push notifications as if you are using a native
app.
