A Study on Cooperative MIMO Systems
Abstract
In recent years, wireless communication has faced with many problems. Among those,
the capacity of the wireless channel and high data rates are two important issues that degrade the performance of wireless communication systems. The invention of Multiple- Input and Multiple-Output (MIMO) can improve the effects of the mentioned problems. MIMO can also achieve to maximum data rate for a randomly low probability of error. Based on the advantages of MIMO, it has been applied to a cooperative communication
in wireless networks. This technique allows single-antennas mobiles to enjoy the benefits
of MIMO systems.
This thesis has three major purposes: (1) to study the smart antenna technology by using multiple antennas at both transmitter and receiver, namely Multiple-Input and Multiple- Output (MIMO); (2) to examine the advantages when MIMO is applied to the cooperative communication in wireless networks; and (3) to develop a simulation program for cooperative MIMO systems.
