Library Security System Using RFID Technology
Abstract
In many libraries, checking books out of the library is manually conducted by librarians. This task becomes an overload for librarians when the number of books and users increased. Therefore, a security system is needed to keep track of books; otherwise losing books is an unavoidable problem. This problem has been addressed in many other countries. Commonly, RFID system is used to keep track of the libraries’ books. However, because of the complexity and the high cost of the system, it has not been widely used in Vietnam. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to develop an afford able library security system using RFID technology, similar to other countries’ security system.
Designing the library security system required many important steps. At the beginning, I searched for all crucial important theory related to RFID system and its operations. Then, based on this insight, I developed an RFID reader working at 13.56
MHz. Next, I designed a library security software. Finally, I combined the software with
the RFID reader to establish the whole library security system which can support the librarian in the process of book lending, inventory and return.
