Abstract
A Smart Card is a plastic card about the size of a credit card, with an embedded microchip that can be loaded with data, used for telephone calling, electronic cash payments, and other applications. Smart Cards are used in credit cards, computer security, health care cards,… In this thesis project, I will research on a smart card reader. I learn about the Smart Card architecture, the structure of ISO-7816 and Atmel Microcontroller. This project aims to build the way that communicates between Smart Card and ATMega32, and my work is design the Smart Card reader for the application that is patient management in the hospitals.
