Group correlation mobile application development

Abstract

With the state of location based technology development at the moment, location based devices are now can provide so much help for users with their location awareness. No doubt the most popular in-hand devices must be a smart phone. To help users on dealing with their location awareness more easily we did this research – project as an application running on mobile smart phone which can detect and show real locations of his/her friends on a graphical map. We chose to develop our application on Android mobile operating system with Java platform. The application used server-client model as the system architecture. Client system runs on user’s smart phone while server runs on a fixed host and they communicate via internet connections. After the system was implemented, it had been tested and evaluated by three novice users. The test ended with mostly positive results and feedbacks. The whole system was scored 3.6/5 overall and also received some precious recommendation for future development. We hope the application is a helpful tool for user who in need of their location awareness. We also want to improve and develop the application far more powerful and more useful for popular using in the near future.
