dc.description.abstractIn recent years, the demand for cosmetics in beauty has been increasing. Bringing nutrients deep into the skin is a necessity for products related to skin care. One of the effective methods that can deliver herbal drugs directly into the skin is microneedles and one type of microneedles that is the most suitable is dissolving microneedles. The goal of this study is creating a dissolving microneedle patch that is safe, and easy to use at home, and it can improve dark spots on the face, bring nutrients into the skin. In this work, a cosmetic microneedle patch was designed to deliver herbal drugs like Alpha Arbutin, Ascorbic Acid, Glycerin, into the epidermis layer of the skin. The microneedle patch was fabricated by the soft-molding method, and it had successfully made with three parts, which were Polyvinyl alcohol - PVP needles, NOCCAHA base, PVA-PVP base. The needle was made base on the model of microneedle made by Micropoint company, with the length was around 370 micrometer. Performance of the microneedle was verified by in-vitro and in-vivo experiments. The mechanical test revealed that the microneedle was strong enough to insert into the skin. The diffusion test was conducted to prove that the needle can dissolve in PBS solution. Antibacterial testing was performed to prove that the patch is a bacteria-free environment and safe to use. In addition, several animal experiments have been performed to further clarify the needle's ability to penetrate and deliver drugs into the skin. Through these testing, the microneedle patch show a good result in mechanical test, the fabrication meet the facilities in Vietnam, and it is expected to replace topical creams. To further improve the overal performance and realize the application of the cosmetic microneedle, there are some experiments should be made in the future including evaluating the skin brightness performance of the microneedle.en_US
