Platform for Simplified Personal Finance Management,” presents the development of Smart
Financer, a web application aimed at making personal finance management more automatic and
straightforward. This project focused on delivering a user-friendly and efficient platform that
helps individuals manage their finances with minimal effort.
Smart Financer offers a range of features to assist users in effectively tracking and organizing
their financial activities. The application includes automated transaction categorization,
allowing users to classify their expenses, income, and savings effortlessly. Budgeting tools
enable users to set financial goals and monitor their spending habits. The application also
incorporates financial forecasting, using a time series model to predict future transactions and
provide insights into potential financial trends.
The development process involved designing a full-stack personal financial management
application using the PERN (PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, Node.js) stack. One significant
challenge was implementing a custom hook in React-Redux for transaction actions, which
required additional problem-solving and debugging.
The literature review explores existing personal finance management solutions, highlighting
the need for a simplified approach tailored to young users. The methodology section details the
design and development process, emphasizing the importance of a minimalist design that
enhances user experience without overwhelming them with complex features.
The application's evaluation demonstrates its effectiveness in helping users achieve better
financial control and planning. The results indicate that Smart Financer provides a practical and
accessible solution for young individuals seeking to improve their financial literacy and
management skills.
