dc.description.abstract | In the rapidly evolving realm of digital media, the translation of comic books represents a
specialized yet profoundly impactful domain. This thesis introduces the development of an
innovative web application that leverages artificial intelligence, specifically machine learning and
natural language processing, to automate comic translations. This endeavor aims to bridge linguistic
divides, making diverse comic literature accessible to a global audience.
The application is engineered using advanced technologies, including ReactJS for the front end,
ChatGPT's large language model to enhance translation ability, and a combination of Google API
and segmentation model for accurate text recognition. The project's core objective is to provide a
seamless and intuitive platform where users can effortlessly upload comics in various languages
and receive reliably translated comics.
By incorporating sophisticated text recognition and the advanced translation capabilities of
leading language models, the application significantly improves the reading experience. It enables
direct engagement between readers and a vast array of international comics, previously hindered by
language constraints.
This thesis outlines a strategic approach to harnessing AI for language translation within the comic
industry, aiming to deliver a distinctive service to comic aficionados globally. The application
prioritizes user-friendliness and rapid translation delivery and enhances discoverability. It features
a robust search engine that facilitates easy exploration, selection, and enjoyment of comics aligned
with individual preferences.
Further enriching the user experience, the application offers detailed comic insights, encourages
community interaction through comments, and introduces a novel hobby store for efficient comic
collection management. The emphasis on a user-centered design, including drag-and-drop
functionality, underscores the project's commitment to accessibility and engagement.
This study provides valuable insights into the design and implementation of AI-driven translation
