Evaluating the effectiveness of entrepreneurship course among the youth in Ho Chi Minh City - Case Study: Viet Youth Entrepreneurs
Abstract
Nowadays, entrepreneurship is becoming a trend to support most of the economic fields. The need for entrepreneurship to solve social issues such as unemployment through creating jobs has become obvious, especially in developing countries. And the youth, with the highly energy, always try to achieve their ambitions by being more active and adapting in business field. For helping people, especially the youth, to reach the knowledge and the spirit of entrepreneurship, many organizations, associations and courses are established.
Viet Youth Entrepreneurs (VYE) is the first only entrepreneurship movement
in Vietnam for students. Founded in February 2011, with the mission is to inspire and empower passionate Vietnamese youths to create successful entrepreneurial endeavors, VYE created the entrepreneurship course for 100 high quality students in summer every year. Because of the high quality of the participants, VYE also need to evaluate its course and has some improvements.
The objective of the research is to evaluate the effectiveness of the entrepreneurship courses that provided by VYE through some factors and to provide some recommendations for the improvement of the course. The empirical part is carried out by a quantitative research using a questionnaire. The number of returned questionnaires was 108 from the total 200 distributed. The research results show that the participants of VYE Entrepreneurship Course have a perception after finished the course
through three factors: Motives Instigation, Characteristics Training and Skills Training.
