Improve the warehouse management at Altus Logistics (Vietnam) Ltd Company
Abstract
The globalization in 21st century has determined the significantly development of sea transportation which leads the increase in demand of shipping, warehouse facilities, storages and transportation services. The application of information technology and electronic commerce has created the trend for logistics in which due to
the information transformation, the need for Logistics Company to be faster and more
accurate in meeting customers’ satisfy.
Altus Logistics (Vietnam) Ltd was established in 1998 under a 100% Foreign
Investment license. Through main offices in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, Altus is providing
all type of logistics services covering the whole country, with a particular focus on industrial projects, Oil &Gas and Energy sector. Major latest jobs in 2011 include the supply chain of overseas material and equipment for the local fabrication. Working in the domestic environment in which there are many foreign logistics company increase the investment in Vietnam, that leads the need for Altus Logistics (Vietnam) Ltd to put it into actions to gain the market share.
The main purpose of this research is to identify some current problems related to the warehouse management function of Altus Company. There are many emergent issues for the company to deal with, especially about the layout design and order picking policies. The fact that Altus Company cannot utilize their warehouse operating capacity as well as make use of the order picking strategy leads Altus to difficulties. Besides, the thesis is to help offer some suggestions and solution for improving the warehouse management, which will be discussed more in the following
chapters.
