Solutions to motivate student part-time employees : Case: Promotion girls at OMG Vietnam
Abstract
Student part time employees are emerging as the main labor force at the sector of
service. They play the important role in interaction with consumers and bring revenue for the
company. Therefore, how to make them feel satisfied with your job and motivate them to work
hard is also the issue of human resources management. However, when discussing about this
topic, scholars often write about full time employees instead of part time employees. The fact
that there are few studies on part time employees‘ job satisfaction.
This research is conducted to measure and define solution to improve student part
time employees‘ job satisfaction with the case of Promotion Girls at OMG Vietnam. After
studying on 235 Promotion Girls at OMG in the area of Ho Chi Minh City, it defines the model,
which figures out that there are 4 factors contributing to Promotion Girls‘ job satisfaction
including: Operating Procedure, Psychological Rewards, Supervision and Communication.
Among 4 factors, Operating Procedure is most urgent to improve because it is the
aspect Promotion Girls feel least satisfactory while it is the most important variable in the model.
3 factors left mentioned above take the next priority respectively.
The author suggested OMG managers many solutions, which are recognized as
effective and practical methods to motivate Promotion Girls as well as innovate the current
situation at OMG.
