The determinants of investors' behavioral intention in using financial derivative instruments - A study in Vietnam
Abstract
The financial derivative market is predicted to open in 2016 by Government and
this market is quite new for all investors. Hence, this essay may anticipate whether
investors are willingness to use financial derivative instruments or not according to the
determinants affect their behavioral intention when this market opens. In addition, the
principal purpose of this study is finding what factors influence individuals’ investment
behavioral intention in the Vietnamese stock market by using the theory of planned
behavior (TPB) as a good observation. By applying the SPSS 19 software for analyzing
data collected from a Ho Chi Minh stock exchange with 150 individual investors, the
results shown that the influence level of the given factors on individuals’ behavioral
intention. These results also support the hypotheses that an individual’s behavioral
intention is significantly affected by his attitude towards investment, subjective norm and
perceived behavioral control. Moreover, the study has found supporting evidence for the
argument that age has a strong moderation affect the attitude towards investment, and
subjective norms of Vietnamese individual investors. Findings found from this study
have provided both academic and practical contributions.
