Induction's effect on staff attitude - Case study of food and beverage departmentin park hyatt Saigon hotel
Abstract
On the first working days of newcomers, they may feel confused or even have to cope with stress that would prevent them from actively responding to the new duties. This may be due to the hotel that has poor induction program whose main role is fostering its new employees and helping them fit in the working environment. Therefore, with the specific cases from Park Hyatt Saigon, this study aims to go deeper in the issue and find out how the induction program affects the new employees’ attitude towards the company, their colleagues and self-development. The raw data was collected from the interviews with 6 newcomers of 3 different outlets of Food &Beverage Department of Park Hyatt Saigon and the qualitative research method was adopted as an effective tool for the researcher to know exactly the feelings and thoughts of the respondents about the program. The findings revealed that there exists the significant relationship between the induction program and attitude of the newcomers. As the result, well-structured and dedicatedly conducted will have positive influence to newcomers’ attitude. The final chapter carries out conclusions about the key findings of this study that answer the first research objective as well as the limitations of the research, recommendations for Park Hyatt Saigon to have better induction program for their new employees and some advices for future research on the topic were then presented.
