Factors affecting creativity of employees in manufacturing and service sector in Da Nang city
Abstract
Employee creativity is the blood of the company, which is the reason why it has been an important role to the improving, and developing of the organizations. The purpose of this research is to measure the factors affecting the employee‟s creativity in the manufacturing and service sector in Vietnam. Survey data were collected from 259 employees who are current working at manufacturing and service sector in Da Nang city. The research model was developed based on literature review (Tierney et al., 1999; Eder and Sawyer, 2008; Jackyte, 2008; Houghton and Diliello, 2009 and Amabile et al., 2012). The results of multiple regression analysis showed the five factors in descending order, which affected the employee‟s creativity: Organizational culture, group climate, job characteristics, intrinsic motivation and creative self-efficacy. A moderation testing is also conducted to analyze the influence of each sector to the relationship between five factors and employee creativity. By using a SPSS and Macro process approach to test our hypotheses and its moderating effect, we find some interesting results that there are high significant relationships among organizational culture, group climate and job characteristics to employee creativity. Based on the research findings, some managerial implications are highly recommended to encourage and improve the employee‟s creativity at work.
