"Factors affecting students' participation in study abroad - Case study of Vietnam national university HCMC"
Abstract
This research was utilized to discover the factors that lead to the students‟ decision of studying abroad. Based on the literature review, the research model was built which indicated the effect of 5 independent variables (Personal Growth, Beliefs and Attitudes, Institutional factor, Experience and Recommendation, Employment and Immigration) on dependent variable (decision making of studying abroad). The finding and discussion of this study are indicated to give the recommendation for educators and apply for marketing strategies.
This research will be applied mainly on quantitative approach when the collected data from the target sample was tested and analyzed by using SPSS software to test the hypotheses. The questionnaire was built according to many previous researches. This research had been conducted from September, 2015 to January, 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City. The target sample is students in six member universities of Vietnam National University HCMC. After conducting the survey, there are 227 valid answers out of 250 respondents.
After analyzing data, the results show that there is a significant relationship between 4 independent factors which include Personal Growth, Beliefs and Attitudes, Institutional factor, and finally Experience and Recommendation. Besides, from ANOVA test, there are significant differences in students‟ decision among groups of income level and parents‟ education level.
