| dc.description.abstract | Nowadays, the importance of English cannot be denied by young generation in Vietnam, especially students in every university. Recently, TOEIC Certification has become one of the most prevalent accreditation that not only students but also employees need to attain to graduate from universities, have a good job, get promotion and many other reasons. Therefore, the needs of learning TOEIC turn out to be a huge profitable market. However, many TOEIC centers in Ho Chi Minh city do not exploit this market efficiently because of lacking TOEIC learners’ demand analysis. This study is conducted to provide empirical evidence of TOEIC learners’ need in Ho Chi Minh city so that TOEIC centers could use it as a useful reference to design an attractive and effective TOEIC course.
Both quantitative and qualitative method are operated to collect data for the investigation into TOEIC learners’ need through questionnaires and face to face interviews. The questionnaires are distributed to 120 students within Ho Chi Minh city and interviews are carried out with randomly 10 students and 5 experienced TOEIC teachers. Then, the collected data are import into Google Docs and Excel for analysis.
The results show that TOEIC course brings many benefits and assists substantially in each individual real life. It also depicts the students’ proficiency level in English as well as difficulty in learning TOEIC that students face to. From that, the study will point out some suggestions for centers to meet students’ need. | en_US |
