Horizontal spillovers from foreign direct investment via economic geography
Abstract
This thesis uses the dataset of Vietnamese firm-level and annual enterprise surveys conducted during the period 2007–2014 by the GSO (data collection of 2014 was done in 2015). The aim is to clarify and highlight horizontal spillover, ownership and geographic on real wage. The finding has also shown the positive and dramatic effects of horizontal spillover on the wages of local workers. This suggests that local enterprises can absorb product innovation knowledge through observation and/or participation in sharing conferences between partner companies as well as within the industry via horizontal spillover. Moreover, ownership and geographic affected are mixed results depend on characteristic of each form.
