The effects of organizational culture on employee's performance in hospitality industry in Ho Chi Minh city
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to understanding the influence of organizational culture on employee‟s performance in the Hospitality industry. The research involves the analysis of organizational culture including six elements which are control system, organizational structure, power structure, rituals and routines, symbols, stories and myths on the performance of employee. The target sample is the Hospitality sector in Ho Chi Minh City. On this point, the organizational culture – which was the independent variable – has the elements were based on the model of Gerry Johnson and Kevan Scholes and the relationship between the organizational culture and employee‟s performance was tested by the Pierson correlation testing. The results from the study showed that there was a significant correlation and predictability of four elements of organizational culture which are control system, organizational culture, symbols, and rituals and routines on employee‟s performance.
This study contributes to a better understanding of the influence of organizational culture elements on the employee‟s performance within the Hospitality industry in Ho Chi Minh City.
Research method used to test the hypotheses is quantitative methods with questionnaire survey and sample size n = 300. Scale was examined by Cronbach‟s Alpha analysis and exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to test its reliability and validity.
The study also provides some suggestions for further study and finding of the related topic.
