dc.description.abstractThis study explores the underlying causes of existing imbalance between education and industry’s expectations on providing hospitality graduates and suggests some practical solutions to close the gaps. The need of gap closing comes from the fact that that the hospitality sector has long experienced various frames, unrealistic desires and unnecessary outcomes with high turnover rate of graduates. Not only will the results will help to release the burden of higher education by settling all the expectations placed on it but also helps students to be equipped with the competences required by the industry. In other words, this study aims to create a win situation for all the stakeholders of hospitality program. By utilizing data triangulation, this study explores the perspectives of hospitality recent graduates, employer and lecturers in Vietnam about the learning outcomes of undergraduate program in Hospitality Management. The findings are richly informative and objective as it has combined all the views of the main education’s stakeholders on the same issue. The scope of the study is in Ho Chi Minh City, with the students and educators are representatives from Hoa Sen University, International University Ho Chi Minh City and Ton Duc Thang University and employers are from international brands of hotels and restaurants. From the results, the significant difference lies in the expectations regarding developing employability competences and ensuring future employment of graduates. It is followed by a suggestion into building a close coordination between the education and industry in building a work-based learning hospitality program so that the students could possess the experience and employability competences in advance to meet the requirements of the industry.en_US
