dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this thesis is to investigate the relationship between biases and gender of individual investors in Vietnam Stock Exchange. Traditional finance supposes people are rational and make decision based on “wealth maximizers”. However, there are many instances where emotion and psychology influence our decisions, causing us to behave in unpredictable or irrational ways. Behavioral finance is the new area that linked behavioral and cognitive psychological theory with traditional finance to explain how people really response. In the sample of Ho Chi Minh City, study finds out that there are still behavioral biases affected by genders. However, in concepts of this research, there are not extremely number is provided. In addition, the test of influence of overconfidence bias and others did not have expected results. To conduct the study, questionnaires were issued to individual investors of Vietnam stock exchange who are students and employees in Ho Chi Minh City and trade on HSX (Ho Chi Minh stock exchange) and HNX (Ha Noi Stock Exchange). There was 400 questionnaires were distributed of which 273 responders, where 51.6% are female and 48.4% are male.en_US
