This research aims to investigate the factors that have impact on individual‘s preferences towards various categories of landscapes. Even though past work all over the world has dedicated to the concept of visitors‘ landscape experience, there is few studies conducted in the context of Vietnam. Therefore, the model developed by Howley (2011) was utilized to verify the relationship among individual‘s socio-demographic characteristics, environmental value orientations with landscape experiences. Data collected from 230 recent tourists in the city of Dalat were analyzed using SPSS version 20 Software. The dependent variables (based on factor analysis of respondents‘ rating results of 17 photos of Dalat landscapes) were grouped into 4 different categories. The results suggested that the majority hold strongest preference for landscape containing agricultural components and both socio-demographic attributes as well as environmental value orientations significantly influenced inclinations three out of four types of landscapes studied. City administrators can base on the research‘s findings and recommendations to make proper land utilization policy, boosting the local agricultural productivity and improving tourists‘ landscape experiences while maintaining heritage buildings and Dalat‘s natural settings.en_US
