Dividend is the limelight for researchers over years. After the case of Enron, WorldCom and some accounting scandals in the world, earning management becomes one of the interesting topics for researchers. Although many papers investigate the relationship between earning management and corporate government in Vietnam, the topic about the impact of earning management on dividend payout has not been ascertained. This study attempts to investigate the impact of earnings management on dividend policy in emerging economy like Vietnam. Using the sample of non-financial firms listed in both Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) and Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX) over an eleven-year period starting from 2007 to 2017, the study finds significantly positive relationship between dividend payout and earnings management in Vietnam.en_US
