Determinants of job satisfaction and engagement - A study of hospitality employees in Ho Chi Minh city
Abstract
Working in the hospitality industry nowadays is no longer a
new trend of career. Although workers in this field are required lots of
special characteristics such as having strong control of pressure, time
management, multi-tasking, prolem-solving, professional acting and so
on, their requirements about the job usually neglected. This study is
aimed to find out determinants of job satisfaction which lead to
engagement in hospitality employees. Quantitative method has been
approached in this study following by questionnaire distributing for data
collection. The sesults were found by descriptive, reliability, validity, and
regression. This study came out with a remarkable findings that
Teamwork significantly influences hospitality employee job satisfaction
and engagement. Other factors such as Job Stress, Relationship with the
Manager, Compensation, Career Development, Working Evironment and
the Job Itself also have moderate effect on job satisfaction and
engagement. Exceptionally, the regression analysis excluded the impact
of Benefits on both ob engagement and satisfaction. This study has
limitation in term of scope and data collection method. The scope is
narrowed which is mainly focus on hospitality employees in Ho Chi
Minh city (Vietnam). The data collection method might be biased due to
participants’ personal interest and emotion.
