Factors affecting entrepreneurial intention of students in International university - VNU HCM
Abstract
In recent year, the subject of entrepreneurship has become an important
research field among economist and scholars. Entrepreneurship is seen as one of a most
efficient way for economic growth and development. This study attempts to identify the
factors affecting entrepreneurial intention of students in International University.
Furthermore, the study also examines whether internal factors or whether external factors
have an impact on the intention to create a new venture.
The quantitative method was applied in this research. The sample of 305
students at International University participated in the survey and the data were analyzed
using the SPSS program. The finding indicated that internal factors have a greater effect
on entrepreneurial intention than external factors. Among four independent variables
examined in this study, Self-confidence has the strongest effect on entrepreneurial
intention, followed by risk taking propensity, perceived support and education.
From the results of the research, we can figure out which entrepreneurial
characteristics should be improved to increase the intention to be self-employment. From
that, suggestions were given to help both policy makers insides or outsides university
develop a favorable environment which can improve intention to start a new business
among students.
